Wellington & Cromwell Design Philosophy

There are bags on the market made of "ballistic" nylon with 99 pockets, plastic zippers and buckles, that can charge your phone and communicate with it via bluetooth.   Wellington & Cromwell is the opposite of that.  Our bags are simple, rugged, and made of natural materials, waxed cotton canvas, full grain leather, and durable brass.  They're designed and handcrafted to last forever. Creating Rugged Luxury

by Rachel Chang Rugged luxury goods are those rare items whose quintessential beauty improves with age and wear.  These items have intrinsic value from their authenticity and craftsmanship but appreciating rugged luxury requires a discerning level of sophistication, taste, and class.  Rugged luxury is linked to the artisanal movement; things that are handcrafted or authentically imperfect appeal to patrons who shun cookie-cutter, mass-commodity driven goods and seek treasures that offer something special. The cotton canvas was cheap and thin and the "leather" looked like plastic.   But since I liked the style and utility of the bag, I looked for a way to reproduce it with the best materials and construction. I also made design improvements to the "Will Smith" bag, adding a zipper closure, a laptop computer compartment, pen and business card holders, and straps to hold an umbrella.   I sourced expensive English bridle...
